Bonus 24: A Pre-Order Promo and a Sneak Peek
This week's bonus content includes details for everyone about a special pre-order promotion for my upcoming book, and a sneak peek for paid subscribers at Chapter 1 of the same
Welcome back to the weekly bonus content for “One First.” Although Monday’s regular newsletter will remain free for as long as I’m able to do this, much of Thursday’s content is behind a paywall to help incentivize those who are willing and able to support the work that goes into putting this newsletter together every week. I’m grateful to those of you who are already paid subscribers (and hope those of you who aren’t will consider upgrading your subscription, both to receive the full bonus content and to support the effort more generally).
As we get closer to the May 16 publication of my book, “The Shadow Docket: How the Supreme Court Uses Stealth Rulings to Amass Power and Undermine the Republic,” this week’s bonus content includes two book-related features. The first is the details of a special pre-order sale that Barnes & Noble is running through tomorrow (Friday, April 28).
Anyone who uses the code “PREORDER25” can receive a 25% discount on hardcover, eBook, and audiobook copies of the book (or any other titles currently available for pre-order) purchased through the Barnes & Noble website. Here’s a link to the book’s B&N page.
The second bonus feature, available to paid subscribers only (below the paywall), is access to a sneak peek at Chapter 1 of the book—which introduces the history of the Supreme Court and its consolidation of power through the evolution of its docket (and the rise of the writ of “certiorari”).
The regular (free) newsletter will be back Monday—with a look at Chief Justice Roberts’s fascinating letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin, and the separation-of-powers issues related to congressional attempts to impose more ethical rules on the Justices. But more on that Monday.
Thanks for your continued support of “One First”; I hope you all have a great weekend! And for paid subscribers, keep scrolling for a link to the sneak peek.
